Okay..so this weeks pick was the Rosy Poached Pear and Pistachio Tart. I unfortunately hate pears..even poaching them in wine was no motivator for me to make this..BUT I'm sure it tastes just fine...if you like pears...which I don't.
Instead today I am finishing what's left of the semester's homework, cleaning, and getting the house ready for my man to come home for 2 weeks! Yep..Mike is somewhat on his way back from Afghanistan for two weeks. He's in Kuwait at the moment and waiting to head out to bring him back here to the Springs. The process started this past Saturday and hopefully he'll be home Thursday morning. The kiddies are completely in the dark about this. We planned on him coming back late January but with a job change approaching he needed his R&R to be sooner so that he can get back and get on with his jobby-job. We decided to not mention it to the kids since, well, the Army likes to mix things up at the last minute..and the Army has left the kids disappointed before with dates so they'll be SHOCKED when he picks them up from school:) Oh..and no he won't go into the school to get them like those corny families you see on the news..he's just going to wait in the truck and scare the poo poo out of them (that's more McGuire like.)
We have no real plans for the next two weeks..just some good family time..an early Christmas..and Mike is most looking forward to food...REAL food. We are right at the half way mark for the deployment so this is the perfect time for him to come back.

So glad for you that your man is coming home. I can't imagine how difficult it must be at times for you. My hats off to you. Oh, I didn't bake the tart either. No pears. No nuts. I baked Dorie's blueberry pie instead.
Too bad your mans been with me since this past Saturday. He gots himself 3 weeks off of work and we've been going at it ever since. He's a "Tiger".
Please hide in the back seat and take pics....I can't wait to see!! Tell Mike D I said whassup. That's "street" for hello. lol Have a great early Christmas - love and miss all of ya!!
